The Move to the West Coast of India
It took an American to move us West.
Br. Austin Loftus, an American, who was elected Superior General in 1966 on a visit to India, asked Br. Xavier Leonard, the then Provincial the best vocation area in the country. When he was told that it was Bombay and the West Coast, he told Br. Leonard to open a school in the area in the next year.
Br. Leonard immediately started looking for a school in the area that the Brothers could take over .
In early 1968, Campion School, a Jesuit school was offered to the Brothers.
It was not what the Brothers wanted but just before the Brothers decided to take it over fate intervened.
